Comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy wins Ukrainian presidential election by landslide

Two international exit polls revealed Zelenskiy had won 73 percentage of the vote.Zelenskiy, a comedian without any political knowledge is set to emerge as the new president of Ukraine.Ukraine entered uncharted political waters on Sunday after exit polls revealed a comedian without any political knowledge and some detailed guidelines had simply won adequate votes to become the next president of a country at battle.

The apparent landslide achievement of Volodymyr Zelenskiy, 41, is a bitter blow for incumbent Petro Poroshenko who managed to rally Ukrainians around the flag by casting himself as a bulwark against Russian aggression as well as a champion of Ukrainian personality.Two national exit polls revealed Zelenskiy had won 73 percentage of the vote with Poroshenko winning only 25 percent.Initial voting data suggested the polls were appropriate.

Zelenskiy, who performs a fictitious president in a well known TV series, is now ready to take over the leadership of a country on the frontline of the West’s standoff with Russia following Moscow’s annexation of Crimea and assist for a pro-Russian insurgency in eastern Ukraine. Acclaiming victory at his campaigns headquarters to emotional followers, Zelenskiy assured he would not allow the Ukrainian people down.

“Since there exists complete uncertainty regarding the economic policy of the individual who will become president , we simply don’t know what is likely to occur and that worries the financial community,” said Serhiy Fursa, an investment lender at Dragon Capital in Kiev.

“We have to see what the initial decisions are , the initial appointments.We probably won’t understand how big these issues are earlier than June.Perhaps almost nothing will vary.”
