US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin Voices New Distrust Regarding Bitcoin’s Future

United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin voiced innovative bearish views on Bitcoin nowadays, stating that he may not be speaking about the top cryptocurrency in as soon as five years. In a meeting with “Squawk Box” CNBC on July 24, Mnuchin stated : 

“I won’t be discussing Bitcoin in 10 years, I will ensure you that I would certainly bet even in 5 or 6 years I’m no longer speaking about Bitcoin as Treasury Secretary. I’ll have further priorities I could assure you I will personally not be loaded up on Bitcoin .” 

Mnuchin’s latest remarks comply with a recent statement about how precisely cryptocurrencies mainly survive as a vehicle for an offense as well as speculative expense, stating, “I believe to a huge extent, these cryptocurrencies were dominated by illegitimate actions as well as speculation .” 

However, CEO and Digital Currency Group founder Barry Silbert prominently celebrated the Treasury Secretary’s remarks, stating that they were “complete and even overall validation of Bitcoin .” 

Money Laundering :
Mnuchin also recently stated that fiat money is not laundered to the scope that Bitcoin is. In an individual Squawk Box interview, Mnuchin asserted that the U .S . has the strongest Anti-Money Laundering system in the world. Bitcoin, on the other hand, he believes is susceptible to money laundering. 

As previously reported by Cointelegraph, economist and anti-cryptocurrency pundit Nouriel Roubini recently wrote an essay with large criticism of the crypto exchange BitMEX, stating that the exchange willfully launders money for terrorists and intruders : 

“BitMEX insiders revealed to me that this exchange is furthermore used daily for money laundering on a huge scale by terrorists as well as other criminals from Russia, Iran, and somewhere else; the exchange does nothing to prevent this , since it profits from these transactions .”
